My In-laws

July 8, 2005

We went to Alabama weekend before last to see our new little neice, Shelby. One of the greatest things about marriage thus far is 1st, Chris has a really nice family and I am truly blessed to have them. 2nd, I instantly gained 4 neices and one nephew. And now, as of June 10th, add one more neice!!

So, here is Chris and baby Shelby:

I’m pretty silly with these pictures. Why is this one so big?? At least the people in it are easy on the eyes:)

Storm’s-A-Comin’

There’s a hurricane in the gulf that has those of us in its path watching the weather more than usual. I have observed an interesting sociological phenonmenon among the locals. If you were born in Louisiana, you either leave for a storm, or you stay for a storm. There is no wait and see, there is no change in plans depending on size of storm. People made their hotel reservations days ago in order to evacuate to Texas or Mississippi. Others have stocked up on water and batteries and will soon hunker down behind their boarded up windows. Most of those who stay are pretty die hard and have seen some horrible storms. I think it’s the captain’s sink with your ship mentality ingrained deep into their psyches.

Chris and I are ready to stay or go. We, not being from here, don’t have any predetermined hurricane plan and will react to the situation according to how it unfolds. We did however have to postpone a trip to visit his family, wait- my family too now: the in-laws, but we’ll take the trip if we evacuate.
